This month’s student of the month is Sasha Halstead. Sasha is the granddaughter of Ron and Cookie Halstead. She’s an 8th grade at Grand County Middle School and has attended BEACON since 7th grade. Sasha was chosen for student of the month because she works hard and is proud of what she accomplishes. She sets goals, helps her friends, doesn’t procrastinate her work and is always “on top of it”. Sasha is a great example and role model to those around her and her hard work is definitely paying off this year at the middle school. This is a lucky month to be chosen as student of the month because Sasha will not only receive the t-shirt and certificate, she will also receive a Golden Ticket to the Willy Wonka themed Chocolate Lover’s Fling on Feb. 8th. Sasha is excited about her reward and, in true Sasha fashion, eagerly asked if she could bring a friend with her to the Willy Wonka party being held at the MARC. The tutors at GCMS BEACON Afterschool Program are excited for her and proud of the hard work she puts forth. Great job, Sasha!

When asked what she likes about BEACON, Willow said, “Everything we do!” She loves the different types of activities and the people. As her award for being named the BEACON Student of the Month, Willow has received a golden ticket to Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Lovers’ Fling, set for February 8th. This event is sponsored by BEACON and Club Red. In addition to plenty of chocolate, there will be all sorts of fun games and activities for attendees of all ages. When asked about her favorite type of chocolate, Willow responded, “It’s so hard to choose, I like them all!” Luckily, Willow won’t have to choose at Chocolate Lovers and can enjoy many of the different forms chocolate can take. We are thrilled to have Willow as our BEACON Enrichment Student of the Month.
