Does it cost for my student to participate in BEACON programs?
There is a sliding fee scale for Enrichment Afterschool Clubs at HMK, GCMS, and Moab Charter School. There are also free drop-in clubs at the GCMS. The scale is based on the Free, Reduced, and Full Pay Lunch waivers. There are no fees for the BEACON Academic Assistance program at HMK and GCMS.
Do I have to re-enroll my child each trimester?
At each BEACON school site (HMK, MCS, GCMS), students need to re-enroll for enrichment clubs for each new trimester. This includes 1st Grade programming and Homework Club at HMK. For Kindergarten programming at HMK parents/guardians register their students for the entire year, during fall trimester. If spaces are available exceptions can be made. Tutoring, is a referral based program by teachers or parents, that is a year long commitment, unless students perform or improve grades enough to graduate out of tutoring. At GCMS some enrichment clubs and homework time is drop-in, filling out a registration form is still required.
What is the daily schedule for the BEACON Afterschool Program?
Each school site has their own programming schedule. At HMK and the Moab Charter School, the Enrichment Clubs run Monday through Friday. The Academic Assistance program runs Monday through Thursday. The Middle School operates programming Monday through Friday and hold additional "workshop style" club options.
How will my student get home after attending BEACON programs?
BEACON does not provide any transportation for students to go home. Parents must be willing to pick their child or students may walk, if parent permission is given. Staff members are unable to transport students.
What are the BEACON Afterschool Program rules?
BEACON follows the same rules and discipline procedures as during the school day. We will send a BEACON Parent/Student Handbook home with your child once s/he is enrolled. Please review this with your child.
How can I get involved with the BEACON Program?
We are always looking for parent help! Additionally, there are several ways to donate to the program. We would love to have parent volunteers and are always in need of school supplies. Please see our ‘Get Involved’ tab at the top of the webpage for the school your child is attending. Thank you!
