Program Overview

BEACON offers youth in grades K-8 a safe, supervised, environment that engages students outside of the school day.

Activities include: academic enrichment opportunities and tutoring, art, recreational and life skills activities.

In addition, BEACON provides early childhood support and adult education to assist family members of participating students.

Take a look at our three Adventure Ed Sites:

• Red Rock Elementary School (grades K-3)

• Helen M. Knight School (grades 4-6)

• Grand County Middle School (grades 7-8)

BEACON’s Key accomplishments include:

In less than 2 years BEACON has expanded our staff from 2 to 15, added a new site for after-school programs while expanding the other 2 sites, and spiced up our offerings of activities through additions like Magic, Murals, Photography, Debate, Desert Investigators and Computer Gaming.

BEACON is now serving 617 students in the district with activities and 67 adults with family programming such as English language classes, Mother Read/ Father Read classes & Parenting classes .
