BEACON Afterschool Program and Moab City Recreation are partnering to offer a new summer camp program for Moab's youth during two weeks of summer vacation!
BEACON City Camp will offer diverse opportunities each day for campers to explore their interests in sports, nature, and the arts. One of BEACON's long standing outdoor outfitter partners, Moab Cliffs and Canyons will be teaching bouldering technique and instruction during one morning each week of camp.
This unique camp structure will have campers exploring our different community resources offered by the City throughout the day. Each morning (with the exception of the bouldering morning) we will begin at the Center Street Gym and Center Street Sports Fields, followed by a nature-based activity. Each afternoon after having lunch campers will spend the afternoon at the Moab Recreation and Aquatic Center to swim or walk to the Moab Arts and Recreation Center to partake in different arts-based activities. Each Friday afternoon we will culminate the week with a family fun afternoon in Old City Park or Swanny City Park with water games, snacks, and other fun. On the day we boulder, school district transportation will pick campers up from Lion's Park and bring them back to town. School District transportation will also bring campers out to Old City Park on the Friday the first week of camp. On this page there is a link to the detailed day by day schedule- where pick up and drop off is, and where students will be during different parts of the day
Day camps will be taught by two of our wonderful BEACON employees, Melissa McKimmey and John Aldridge. Additional staff from BEACON and MCR will be on site during swimming times at the MRAC.
